FAQs

I’m losing my hair, what can I do?

There are plenty of options out there for you. Pete lost his hair in his 20’s and that’s what drove him to get Optima up and running, to help people like you. The best thing you can do right now is to book in for a free, no obligation consultation with one of our hair loss specialists. Get in touch by emailing us on info@optimahair.co.uk or call on 0121 454 8180.

Can I save my hair?

Yes you can – with the right treatment and advice there is no need to accept going bald. Our laser hair growth therapy can encourage new growth and halt any further hair loss.

Why choose us?

Pete has been there and done it when it comes to hair loss – he spent £18,000 in 3 years on hair loss treatments that didn’t work and as Pete always says: ALWAYS do your homework and ALWAYS go to see these clinics that offer services for hair loss. Visit at least 3 before committing to anything, and take your time, waiting a few weeks won’t make any difference in the long run. Read more about Pete’s story.

How long has your company been going?

Optima has been going for 16 years, and has moved premises 3 times to accommodate our growing client base. Pete and Karen have nearly 50 years of experience between them. They have seen it all and together with their team of 30 they can get rid of all those bad feelings you’re feeling from losing your hair.

What options are there?

You have many choices but you need to pick the one that’s right for you. There are hair transplants, hair treatments, hair systems, laser hair therapy, SMP. Pete has been using a hair system for 20 years and you can’t beat sitting 2 feet in front of someone who has the experience of and solution right in front of you, so come in and see for yourself exactly what we can achieve.

How much does it all cost?

The consultation is completely free, and our prices can range from £499 – £2995 depending on which treatment is right for you, but any advice given is completely free.

What is a hair system?

A hair system is a second skin membrane with hair attached to it that looks like a natural head of hair: (see Pete’s video).

How does it work?

We customise your order completely to your requirements, and there are various methods of attachment. The best method can be decided between you and your consultant. Once you decide it’s something you want to do, the waiting time in this programme can be 8 – 12 weeks, however it’s well worth the wait! It doesn’t hurt and it’s instant as you can see by Pete’s video.

Is it for men and women?

Absolutely – these days 50% of our clients are women and Annie our female consultant does most of our female consultations to make you feel at ease. Annie suffered with hair loss for many years so can be very understanding to those that need it.

What happens if I don’t like it?

If you’re nervous and you don’t like it then you can apply to have your money returned and you lose nothing – you don’t know until you try. *terms and conditions apply

How natural can it look?

You’ll meet Pete where you can see with your own eyes up close exactly how natural it can look. We pride ourselves on providing systems that are so natural and undetectable that even you will forget you’re wearing one!

Will it thicken all my hair?

Depending on your hair loss it can really thick your hair a lot. If you’re in the early stages of hair loss this is definitely the treatment for you.

Is it guaranteed?

Once we have seen you and the extent of your hair loss we can establish whether a guarantee can be given.

How does it work?

The laser works by reducing the amount of DHT in the scalp. DHT suffocates the hair follicle and over time miniaturises it so much that there is no hair left. In combination with our stimulants formulated by the UK’s number 1 Trichologist our unique Laser Programme can’t be found anywhere else.

Is there any special maintenance?

In a nutshell, no. You can carry on your lifestyle as normal. We do advise using our Trichologically formulated shampoos and stimulants to give the Laser programme the best opportunity of good results.

Does it hurt?

Definitely not! It’s a low level cold laser and won’t hurt at all.

How does it work?

Specially formulated pigment is injected into the scalp using thousands of tiny impressions to create the illusion of a close-cut, full head of hair. SMP can be used to cover any amount of thinning hair, cover transplant scars, mask Alopecia spots, and recreate receding hairlines.

Will it fade?

The pigment used in SMP is specially formulated not to fade and aren’t sensitive to UV light, and combined with the way in which the pigment is applied to the outermost layer of skin, the pigment will continue to stay true to the original application for between 10 to 15 years.

Do I have to keep my hair shaved?

It’s recommended to keep your existing hair shaved to a 0, 1, or 2 grade to keep it looking natural.

What experience have you got?

Our practitioner Damon Ashcroft was one of the first practitioners of SMP in the whole of the UK. He has gone on to treat thousands of clients over his 9 year career and has been consistently regarded in the SMP community as one of the best practitioners in the world, recently being nominated “Best UK Technician” by Team Micro, the world’s number 1 Micropigmentation site.

Does it hurt?

Most clients report the feeling of having the procedure to be somewhat uncomfortable, but certainly not painful. Numbing cream can be applied to the area beforehand to alleviate any potential for pain.

Can I see one of your systems?

Definitely. It’s understandable that you’d want to see what we can do before going ahead with anything; that’s why you’re welcome to come in and see Pete for yourself.

Are you a lot more expensive than others?

Absolutely not. We have 19 stylists so that shows how affordable and how popular we are. We’ve done the market research, and we’re one of the most affordable companies around.

I’ve already got a hair system but I’m not happy with my current provider. Can you help?

Don’t worry – we can take over your hair replacement system maintenance. You’ll need to come in for a consultation first of all to get the ball rolling. Just get in touch.
