SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) Treatment

Scalp MicroPigmentation is the ultimate solution for men wanting to replicate the natural appearance of real hair follicles and the ‘shaved head’ look.

Often referred to as a scalp tattoo or hair tattoo,  SMP is a non-surgical procedure which camouflages the surface area of the scalp where hair loss has already occurred, as well as facilitating the creation of a new and strong hairline. It’s an increasingly popular hair treatment for men with Male Pattern Baldness, Hair Thinning and Alopecia.

How Does Scalp MicroPigmentation Work?

The SMP process expertly restores the appearance of thousands of hair follicles by gently injecting the natural pigment onto the scalp. Suitable for all types and stages of hair loss on all skin tones, the scalp tattoo typically takes 9-12 hours to complete, usually spread over three sessions.

Our Birmingham clinic is proud to have Damon Ashcroft, an internationally renowned SMP practitioner having pioneered the treatment in London’s Harley Street and on Fifth Avenue in New York, now operating Bespoke Scalp Micro Pigmentation from our world-class clinic here in Edgbaston.

Having experienced a hair loss condition and undergone the treatment himself, Damon is a big advocate of SMP and all the benefits it brings – both physical and emotional. First impressions count – especially with Scalp MicroPigmentation – so please contact us for a consultation with Damon, let him lead you through the process and witness the results for yourself.

Is Scalp MicroPigmentation Permanent?

Yes, Scalp Micropigmentation is permanent cosmetic treatment. However, touch-up treatments will be required after around 3-6 years depending on the lifestyle you lead. Those who are often in direct sunlight may require a touch-up sooner than this due to fading

What is the difference between SMP and Tattooing?

While SMP is often referred to as a Scalp Tattoo, there are subtle differences between the two processes. Firstly, both treatments facilitate the use of a needle, however, Scalp Micropigmentation needles are considerably thinner and designed to insert ink deeper into the dermis, to replicate the 100,000 hair follicles onto the scalp. This allows for a more subtle looking final product rather than the crisp lines seen with traditional tattoos.

The ink used as part of the treatment will closely match your skin tone and hair colour to ensure a natural and well blended final look.
